Mario Kart 64
Overview
Mario Kart 64 is the second main installment of the Mario Kart series. It is the first game in the series to use three-dimensional graphics, however, the characters and items in this game are still two-dimensional, pre-rendered sprites. The game offers two camera angles and three engine sizes: 50cc, 100cc and 150cc. Each kart has distinctive handling, acceleration and top speed capabilities. Shells that you fire at rival racers, Bananas that make them skid out and Lightning Bolts that make them small and very slow are just a few of the game's unique power-ups.

Mario Kart 64 (N64) - Cheats and Secrets
• Mini-Turbo: hold R while drifting and release to get a boost. Chain multiple drifts on long corners.
• Royal Raceway shortcut: after the bridge, turn right onto the lake. With a mushroom boost you can jump across to the far side of the track, near the finish line.
• Kalimari Desert shortcut: wait for the train's second pass and use a mushroom to cross the tracks ahead of it, or cut along the rails with a well-timed boost.
• Rainbow Road shortcut: at the start, jump off the edge of the track toward the lower section; with a mushroom you can land far ahead on the course (takes practice).
• Rocket start: press accelerate (A) just as the light turns blue to launch ahead. If you press too early, you'll spin out.
• Unlock more content: win the Flower Cup, Star Cup and Special Cup in 50cc, 100cc and 150cc to unlock the mirrored 150cc (Extra) mode.
• Use a lightning bolt or red shell right before a rival's jump or bridge to guarantee an overtake.
• Tip: light characters (Toad, Peach, Yoshi) have the best top speed with mushrooms, while heavy characters regain speed faster after hits.
