Mega Man, known as Rockman in Japan, is a 1987 action-platform video game developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was directed by Akira Kitamura, with Nobuyuki Matsushima as lead programmer, and is the first game of the Mega Man franchise and the original video game series. Mega Man was produced by a small team specifically for the home console market, a first for Capcom, who previously focused on arcade titles.

Mega Man (NES, 1987): Cheats and Tips
• Recommended boss weakness order: Cut Man > Elec Man > Ice Man > Fire Man > Bomb Man > Guts Man. Each boss is weak to the previous boss's weapon in this chain.
• Guts Man is weak to Bomb Man's Hyper Bomb, but the easiest way to beat him is learning his jump patterns and dodging patiently.
• The Robot Masters return in Dr. Wily's final fortress with reduced health; use their weakness weapons again to finish them quickly.
• Mega Man 1 has no Energy Tanks, so take advantage of refill items that reappear when re-entering completed stages to stock up on energy before the final fortress.
• Item-3 (from Elec Man) lets you climb walls; use it in Wily's fortress to reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
• Against the final Dr. Wily fight, use Fire Storm or Magnet Beam and keep moving; Ice Man's weapon also makes the preceding stage easier.
• Learn the bosses' jump patterns: nearly all of them follow fixed routines that are easy to memorize, letting you win even without their weakness weapon.
