Overview

Your goal in life is to become a Pokemon Card Master. In order to do that, you must pick a deck from three starter packs of cards based on Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur and travel to the eight card clubs and defeat their leaders. Along the way, you will challenge many players to collect new cards and the helpful Professor Mason will aid you by giving you cards as well. While becoming a card master is a laudable accomplishment, the real goal of the game is to collect all of the cards over 200 in all. If you want to collect all of the cards, you must play human opponents in the Pop mode to get a chance to earn rare cards. All of the complexity of the real-world game has been captured here. Play Pokemon Trading Card Game and become a Pokemon Card Master.

Pokémon Trading Card Game (GBC, 1998) - Cheats & Tips
• Legendary cards: after defeating the 4 Grand Masters in the Hall of Fame, you'll face a final rival; beating them awards a legendary card (Charizard, Zapdos, etc., depending on your chosen starter deck).
• Repeat cards: replaying already-defeated Club Masters can reward you with random new cards, including rare ones.
• Tip: always save at the Mailbox before tough duels; there is no autosave, and losing to a Grand Master forces you to replay the match.
• Deck tip: include several Double Energy cards and healing cards (Pokémon Center, Super Potion); Legendary League opponents heavily punish slow decks.
• Booster hunting: after winning each club, talk to its members again; many hand out limited booster packs, so sweep the map after every victory so no cards are missed.
• Continue after credits: after beating the game you can keep playing, retaining your collection and working toward 100% card dex completion.
• 3DS (Virtual Console) tip: use the Virtual Console save point before important duels to retry without risking your collection.
• Hidden secrets: secret cards are scattered throughout the game (e.g., from talking to certain NPCs after specific events); talk to everyone after earning each medal.
