Streets of Rage 2 (1992) - Tips and Tricks
• Police attack: when your special meter is full, press B and C together to call the police car for a screen-clearing special. In Rounds 1 and 2 it costs no health; from Round 3 onward it takes a bit of HP.
• Team combos: in two-player mode, if both players press their special attack at the same time while side by side, exclusive joint team attacks with extra damage will trigger.
• Beware the sacrificial special: the normal special (B+C) drains health if it lands, so use it only as a last resort or to escape being surrounded.
• Weapons and items: knives and pipes are dropped when you take a hit, and knives break when thrown and stuck. Prioritize food when it appears: healing depends on the food's size.
• Characters: Axel is well-rounded, Blaze is fast and agile, Max is slow but very powerful, and Skate is the quickest with better throws. Pick based on your playstyle.
• Pro tip: jump attacks (jump and attack as you descend) are the safest way to deal damage without getting hit, and you can chain throws by pressing forward plus attack near enemies.
• Pro tip: learn to slip past grouped enemies to reposition behind them, and save point pickups (money bags) for the end of a stage so they score higher on the results screen.
